• Advanced TCP/IP Tuning - By default, Windows 95/98/NT are not tuned for optimal access to the internet via a dial-up connection. InternetVelocity will automatically tune these TCP/IP settings for you so you can get the most out of your internet connection. Proper tuning of these TCP/IP settings can provide a dramatic increase in overall throughput. InternetVelocity even includes facilities to allow advanced users to tune their own TCP/IP settings!
• DNS Caching - Everytime you enter a URL into your web browser such as http://www.internetvelocity.com, your web browser must send a request over the internet to a remote DNS resolving computer. This DNS resolving computer will return back a TCP/IP address. This request/answer sequence may require several seconds to complete. InternetVelocity caches the responses to these lookups in memory. In certain instances, this could enable your webpage to start loading seconds faster.
• WebPage Prefetching - This powerful feature of InternetVelocity will actually try to anticipate the next web page that you will click on, and actually download it BEFORE you need it. As you read a web page, your modem is usually idle. InternetVelocity takes advantage of this idle time and uses it to prefetch webpages and graphics. This is a much better utilization of the modem and dialup connection. As a result, when you click on links that have been prefetched, the page will show up almost INSTANTLY!
• Banner Ad Filter - Did you know that on a 28.8K modem, two banner ads on the web page that you are retrieving can add up to EIGHT seconds to the time it takes to download the webpage!?!?
